Common questions

What counts as "sugar free" for kids?

The FDA defines sugar free as less than 0.5g total sugar per serving (Tier A). Tier B means zero added sugar - natural fruit or dairy sugars are fine. Both are great choices for kids.

Are natural sugars okay for kids?

Yes - the AHA and AAP focus restrictions on *added* sugar, not the natural sugar in whole fruit or dairy. A fruit pouch with 8g sugar from 100% fruit is fine; a fruit snack with 8g of added cane sugar is not.

How many grams of sugar should a kid snack have?

The AHA recommends children under 2 avoid added sugar entirely, and children 2-18 have no more than 25g of added sugar per day. A snack at 0-3g added sugar leaves plenty of room in the daily budget.

Do these snacks taste good?

Yes. Modern food science is excellent at making low-sugar snacks genuinely tasty. Stevia, monk fruit, and erythritol are common sweeteners in Tier A/B products - we flag these so you can decide.
